How do I scan a sake bottle?

Tap the 📸 Scan button on the home screen or bottom navigation. Point your camera at the front and back labels of the bottle. Make sure the label text is clearly visible and well-lit. The AI will automatically read Japanese and English labels — even partially visible text usually works. Tap 'Analyze' and wait a few seconds for your spirit to be awakened.

What if the AI doesn't recognize my sake?

Try these tips: (1) Make sure both the front and back labels are in frame, (2) Ensure good lighting — avoid harsh shadows or glare, (3) Hold the camera steady and close enough to read the label text, (4) If the bottle is wrapped or foil-covered, try scanning from a different angle. If the AI still can't identify it, you'll see a helpful error message and can try again. Some very rare or unlabeled bottles may not be recognizable.

How do I save my spirits?

After scanning and viewing your spirit's card, tap the 'Save to Collection' button. You'll need to be signed in to save spirits — tap 'Sign In' and create a free account with your email. Once saved, your spirit appears in your Gallery and is synced across all your devices automatically.

How do I delete a spirit from my collection?

Open your Gallery, tap on the spirit you want to remove, and scroll down to find the 'Delete Spirit' option on the spirit detail page. You'll be asked to confirm before deletion. Note: deleted spirits cannot be recovered, but you can always rescan the same bottle to create a new one.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your sake collection, tasting notes, and account details are stored securely in your private account and never sold or shared with third parties. Bottle photos you scan are sent to OpenAI for analysis and then discarded — we don't store your original photos on our servers. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI DSS compliant) and we never see your card details. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
